IMac or Mac Pro for Final Cut Pro?
If you're budget is within the $3000 range, a base model Mac Pro plus the RAM plus the display puts you just a little bit over $3000 (via apple.com). Look at this purchase in one year from now, you will expand your workflow and thus you will need room for expansion, something an iMac won't give you. You can shop at the website I have listed to see if you can score a good deal on quality memory for a MacPro. But the bottom line is you will need room to expand and while the iMac is a nice all in one, if one component goes down, the whole thing goes down and you're workflow is disrupted. With a MacPro you can expand to 16 GB of RAM if needed be, add more video cards to expand your canvas, add different expansion cards to further make your work more easily and thus deliver projects more efficiently.
