A cat is afraid of me! I need to get it out from under my house!?

There is a cat living under my house, and it is a very nice cat that used to come and I would pet it and it would climb up in my lap. Then, I decided that it needed to go to the humane society, and so I decided to capture it in my dog kennel. This morning, I took out the kennel and called the cat. It ran out from under the house and I picked it up and tried to put it in the kennel. It freaked out and sped back under the house. I coaxed it out again, and, thinking it could trust me, came up to me and started purring again. I quickly picked it up again and tried to put it in, but it ran away again. I tried calling to it, but it had obviously lost its trust with me. It doesn't trust me anymore, or respond to my calls. I put out some food thinking it might like me if I fed it, and it just ate the food and ran back under the house. How do I catch/make this cat trust me?
