I like being a waitress better than what I went to college for. Is this bad?

I have my degree as an Occupational Therapy istant, but I actually enjoy waiting tables & bar tending more. People can not seem to understand this. I make the same amount of money in tips as I would working with my degree. Why are people (IE: My family) so unsupportive of this idea? I feel like they are disappointed with my choices.
