Why does Canada cater to Quebec?

Watching question period today in the House, there was more French being spoken than English. This is an English country under the Commonwealth of Great Britain. France gave up all territory east of the Mississippi in the Treaty of Paris in 1763. The French lost all legitimate clams to this land at that time. Today I have to listen to my government speak in French and I'm tired of it. We cater to a minority, why...
